We are a small law practice with a special interest in working with people to ‘get their affairs in order’. We work with people in a variety of modes including ‘face to face’, on the phone, skype, email and teleconference.

Helen McGowan is the Principal Legal Director of Transition Law which runs the Halliday Solicitors Law Practice. Helen has worked for ten years in the community legal sector setting up the Community Legal Service in Albury Wodonga (now called the Hume Riverina Community Legal Service). In this role she participated in establishing a series of community legal education forums on end of life planning. She then did her PhD looking at the legal ethics of conflicts of interest in law practices in regional, rural and remote Australia.

Helen has worked closely with the health system to run a pilot project on end of life planning in the cross border communities of Albury Wodonga. This pilot project generated a range of resources which have been shared widely within the legal and health professions.
